Lauren, sometimes Curious Lauren, is a 29 years young, multi-award-winning Art Director, Designer and Illustrator based in Joburg, South Africa. You can find her making pottery, perfecting her bangs without shaving off her eyebrows and collecting rare tropical plants.
In her 9-5 she’s a proud Creative Group Head of the King James Group, a top creative agency in Africa. And if you check in any time before 9 and after 5, you will find her working on some of the most exciting illustrative projects with the mission of combining art and creativity for good.
Apart from a growing list of awards, her personal work has been spotlighted all over the world. Lauren’s work has been featured in VISI magazine, Glamour Magazine, Between 10&5, The Design Kids, and on Design Indaba’s stage in 2020. She also recently walked away with a World Illustration Award (UK) and Loeries in the OOH and Design category (2021).
She’s dedicated her personal time and skills to things like creative master classes and art exhibitions where she’s contributed to raising money for women in poverty, women’s rights and most notably the #MeToo movement. She’s served as a mentor to a number of female-led industry organisations, a member of King James’ Employment Equity committee and she’s had the privilege of sitting on judging panels for both Creative Circle & The Loeries.
Lauren is also a co-founder of Flourish, a collective that brings women together with the goal of tackling women-specific issues in the advertising industry. She’s still young, but she’s here to make waves.
